I can't believe I turn 40 on August 31st this year.
While my naughty children love to remind me of my factual age, I am equally happy to remind THEM that INSIDE I am still 23 (and that I will in many cases behave as such - dance floor watch out!). And while it is tempting to spend the mortgage money on potions and creams and other tricks promising to make me look like I'm 23, I'm focusing on something else to keep my mind off what I think may be age spots on my hands (the horror!).
As my bones get older I can really appreciate the comfort of a bed at the end of a busy day. So to mark my 40th trip around the sun I am trying to raise enough funds to buy 40 beds for the dogs and cats at the Washington Humane Society, so they too can have the comfort of a soft place to rest when they are tired.
In order for me to buy 40 beds, I need to raise $2400. Will you help me?
The beds I will buy are made by Kuranda and are built to last. They are, without a doubt, the gold standard in beds for animals in shelters. They are built like a cot raised off the floor with a comfortable "sling" that supports while providing the ability to "sink in". The cat beds not only provide a place to sleep but also a place (under the cot) to hide as kitties sometimes like to do.
The beds are an investment in the comfort, happiness and stress reduction of the thousands of animals who are cared for within the walls of the Washington Humane Society, by an incredibly dedicated staff.
Nothing would make me happier and make me feel that I'd been able to do something meaningful to mark my birthday than to give the animals of WHS who need temporary shelter one of the basic comforts of a home. And I promise to send you photos of the animals on their new beds you helped to provide.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
xoxo,
Steph
